Rodney Garvin:  HC Vidalia High School

Rodney Garvin is finishing his 28th year of coaching and first as the head football coach at Vidalia High School.  Coach Garvin returned to Vidalia after serving as the defensive coordinator and strength coach there from 2007-2017.  From 2018-2022, Coach Garvin was the head football coach at Metter High School. He led that program to four consecutive region championships, including four quarterfinal and two semi-final appearances with a 52-12 record during his tenure there.

Garvin has called defenses for 22 of his 28 years and his defenses have given up an average of 14 points per game for 22 years.  Having the opportunity to work under legendary wing-t Coach Luther Welsh, and defensive coordinator John Barnett at Thomson High school paved the way for an opportunity to work under another great coach Lee Chomskis at Vidalia High School.  These opportunities helped him tremendously along with developing friendships with outstanding mentors, Coach Buzz Busby and Coach Rex Hodges.  The combination of philosophies from these men helped Coach Garvin develop his way of thinking in regard to defensive football.
