Marcus Gowan: Associate HC- CO-OC/ OL, Valdosta HS, GA

Marcus Gowan is in his third year at Valdosta High School, during this time he has coached the
offensive line and has added the role of Associate Head Coach and Co-Offensive Coordinator.
Coach Gowan was born and raised in Liberty County, FL. Where he played for Grant Grantham.
Upon graduation he attended Florida A&M University and began his coaching career. He began
his coaching career working at Leon High School in 2013 where he served as the Offensive
Line Coach and eventually became the Special Teams Coordinator. Following the 2015 season
Coach Gowan moved to central Florida and coached the offensive line and special teams for
the Plant City Raiders.
Following the 2016 season Coach Gowan began his career in the state of Georgia at Crisp
County High School, working for Brad Harber. Following two successful seasons as both
Region Champions and Region Assistant Coach of the year, Coach Gowan returned to central
Florida where he accepted the position of Assistant Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator and
Offensive Line Coach for Robert Paxia at Lake Gibson High School. During his time there the
Braves were ranked in the top ten in every major offensive category in 6A.
For the past three seasons at Valdosta, Coach Gowan has worked underneath Coach Shelton
Felton. At Valdosta, he has developed six first team all region offensive lineman and developed
the 2021 Region Player of the year Jacarrius Peak. During this past season Coach Gowan
helped lead an offense that amassed over 5000 yards of total offense, and averaged a total of
32 points per game.
Coach Gowan is married to the former Abigail Taylor of Fitzgerald, Ga. They have one beautiful
daughter Ava Grace (2).
